Japanese Tableware

Coordinating Japanese Table ware

Japanese style meals are called "washoku (Japanese food)".

The typical style of Japanese food is "ichiju-sansai" (a soup and three vegetables). Ippiru-sansai" refers to a basic Japanese meal consisting of three main dishes (rice), one soup (miso soup, etc.), and side dishes (one main dish and two side dishes). Japanese cuisine is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and is recognized worldwide as one of Japan's culinary cultures.

Japanese dinnerware consists of a rice bowl, soup bowl, chopsticks, and a small bowl or plate for serving side dishes. Rice is often placed in the front left, soup in the front right, and main dishes in the center or back, and chopstick rests are used in Japanese dinnerware sets.

In recent years, in addition to Japanese dishware, we have seen a variety of table decorations in Western and mixed styles.

On this page, we will introduce examples of Japanese ceramic dinnerware coordination using traditional Japanese Kutani Yaki tableware.
