Braised pork, Japanese style

Japanese pork belly is made by cutting pork belly into cubes and stewing it for a long time with seasonings such as sugar, mirin, soy sauce, green onions, and ginger. Stewing makes the pork tender and the dish is full of sweetness and umami.

[Ingredients] Serves 2-3

600g pork belly
・☆400cc water
・☆200cc cooking sake
・☆100cc soy sauce
・☆3cm ginger from a tube
・☆50cc mirin
・☆3 tablespoons sugar

[Step1]

Parboil the pork.
To parboil, place the pork in water and simmer over low heat until it boils, then remove the meat.

[Step2]

Add all the ingredients from ⭐︎ to the par-boiled pork, cover and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes.

[Step3]

Remove the lid and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
