Kutaniyaki is characterized by a coloring technique in which lines are drawn in an indigo blue called gosu and painted with a thick layer of five colors of paint (red, yellow, green, purple, and navy blue) called gozai (five colors).
The bold overglaze painting gives a powerful impression.

This product is recommended for both daily use and as a gift.

How to care for Kutani ware

Care and Maintenance

Adorned with exquisite floral colors and gold paint doesn’t mean it was designed just for display. 

Kutani pottery was designed and made for daily joy. 

With proper care and knowledge, this timeless piece promises years of delightful use.​

Hand washing is recommended whenever possible

You can use a soft sponge and a mild detergent to clean the dish. It is important to wash gently with a soft sponge or cloth.​ 

While you can use a dishwasher, we recommend hand washing as much as possible for some items such as those made of gold and silver, which tend to peel off after a long period of use.​

Be careful with microwave ovens

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven. 

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.​

Rapid Temperature Changes

Rapid temperature changes, such as sudden cooling or heating, may cause the tableware to crack or break.

Do not place hot tableware on a cold surface, or pour hot food into cold tableware.
