Taishi kiln was founded in 2011 in Nonoichi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, by Kutani ware artist Yasushi Yamachika.
Yamachika was born into the fourth generation of Seizangama potters, but opened his own kiln to express his unique world view.
The name of the kiln, "Taishi", was inspired by the words of Dr. Clark, the father of Hokkaido, "Boys, be ambitious! The name was inspired by the words of Dr. Clark, the father of Hokkaido's development, "Boys, be ambitious!
