Product Description

Camellia (Tsubaki) is a popular flower often planted in Japanese gardens. It has long been considered a good omen and has a Japanese image, and the elegant camellia is also used as a motif in kimonos and yukata (light cotton kimono).

The camellia is a flower native to Japan and has been loved by the Japanese since ancient times. It is also called the "Japanese rose" in the Western world.
The camellia blooms from November to December and from February to April, and during these seasons it produces flowers in a variety of colors, including red, pink, white, and mixed colors. And each color has a different flower language. The red camellia has "modest splendor," "unpretentious grace," and "humble virtue. White camellias are associated with "perfect beauty," "impeccable charm," and "supreme loveliness. The pink camellia has the words "humble beauty," "humble love," and "modesty. And the language of flowers for yellow camellias is "amicability" and "ideal love.

With a capacity of approx. 200 cc, it is an easy size to use not only for tea, but also as a small bowl for serving dessert or a small side dish.

The Seiko kiln is a famous Kutani kiln for color painting. The originally developed Japanese paints with a sense of transparency and layers of depth enhance the charm of the works.  Since this product has a hand-painted process, there may be individual differences in color and shade. Please be aware that the color may not be the same as the item at hand when considering the purchase of additional items.

How to care for Kutani ware

Care and Maintenance

Adorned with exquisite floral colors and gold paint doesn’t mean it was designed just for display.

Kutani pottery was designed and made for daily joy.

With proper care and knowledge, this timeless piece promises years of delightful use.

Hand washing is recommended whenever possible

You can use a soft sponge and a mild detergent to clean the dish. It is important to wash gently with a soft sponge or cloth.

While you can use a dishwasher, we recommend hand washing as much as possible for some items such as those made of gold and silver, which tend to peel off after a long period of use.

Be careful with microwave ovens

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven.

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.

Rapid temperature change

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven.

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.
