Product Description

The cherry blossoms are only in full bloom for about two weeks at most, but as spring approaches in Japan, the news announces predictions of when the blossoms will bloom and when they will be in full bloom, song programs play cherry blossom-themed songs, and the streets are filled with cherry blossom-themed accessories and food. It is not an exaggeration to say that cherry blossom viewing is an annual event for Japanese people, as many Japanese visit cherry blossom viewing spots when the cherry trees are in full bloom.
The flower language of cherry blossoms is "nobility" and "outstanding beauty.

The first reason why Japanese people love cherry blossoms so much is that they symbolize the arrival of spring. In Japan, which has four distinct seasons, "spring" is an exciting time of year when the cold winter is over and the new year brings a fresh start for many things. The second reason is that they are "ephemeral and beautiful flowers. Even though we have been looking forward to the time when the cherry blossoms will be in full bloom for months, they will fall in about two weeks at the most. Since ancient times, Japanese people have always felt a sense of beauty in the transience of life, and the fleeting nature of cherry blossoms is believed to be one of the reasons for this.

With a capacity of approx. 200 cc, it is an easy size to use not only for tea, but also as a small bowl for serving dessert or a small side dish.

The Seiko kiln is a famous Kutani kiln for color painting. The originally developed Japanese paints with a sense of transparency and layers of depth enhance the charm of the works.  Since this product has a hand-painted process, there may be individual differences in color and shade. Please be aware that the color may not be the same as the item at hand when considering the purchase of additional items.

How to care for Kutani ware

Care and Maintenance

Adorned with exquisite floral colors and gold paint doesn’t mean it was designed just for display.

Kutani pottery was designed and made for daily joy.

With proper care and knowledge, this timeless piece promises years of delightful use.

Hand washing is recommended whenever possible

You can use a soft sponge and a mild detergent to clean the dish. It is important to wash gently with a soft sponge or cloth.

While you can use a dishwasher, we recommend hand washing as much as possible for some items such as those made of gold and silver, which tend to peel off after a long period of use.

Be careful with microwave ovens

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven.

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.

Rapid temperature change

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven.

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.
