Gunkanmaki (salmon roe)

Gunkanmaki (軍艦巻き) is a type of sushi from Japan known for its delicious salmon roe (ikura). This dish is especially popular among sushi lovers. The name "Gunkanmaki" translates to "battleship roll" because of its distinctive appearance, resembling a battleship due to the way the sushi filling is wrapped in seaweed.

<Ingredients for 2 servings>

Ingredients:

Rice 1 bowl (150g)
Salmon roe 60g
Grilled laver 1 sheet

☆Sushi vinegar
Vinegar 1 1/2 tablespoons
Sugar 1/2 tablespoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1:

In a bowl, mix the ☆ ingredients, add the rice, mix well, and let cool (sushi rice).


Step 2:

Cut the grilled laver lengthwise into the width of a gunkan.


Step 3:

Wrap the rice in plastic wrap and form into a bale. Wrap the grilled nori around the rice and place the salmon roe on top.
