Soaked salmon roe in soy sauce (How to Make the Sauce)

This recipe can be enjoyed over sushi rice or as a topping for various dishes.Enjoy your homemade ikura!

<Ingredients>

  • 300g Salmon roe
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons mirin

 

Step 1

Put soy sauce, sake, and mirin in a small saucepan, bring it to a boil to evaporate the alcohol, then let it cool thoroughly.

Step 2

Gently rinse the salmon roe under cold water to remove excess salt.

Step 3

Drain the salmon roe thoroughly and place in a clean, dry bowl.

Step 4

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the salmon roe.Gently mix the roe and the sauce, ensuring the roe is well coated.

Step 5

Add the unwrapped salmon roe and let the flavors blend for half a day to a day.

Step 6

Serve the ikura over sushi rice or enjoy it as a topping for various dishes.
