Teacups are called "Yunomi" in Japanese.

It is a vertical, cylindrical teacup commonly used for drinking Japanese tea by hand.

 

Because of its large capacity, the area where the tea touches the air is small, which means it does not get cold easily. In Japanese sushi restaurants, it is traditional to serve tea in a yunomi.

 

Speaking of Hokusai (1760-1849), he is the genius ukiyo-e artist representing Japan's Edo period. This yunomi expresses the famous paintings left by Hokusai using Kutani ware ceramics.​

Hand washing is recommended whenever possible

You can use a soft sponge and a mild detergent to clean the dish. It is important to wash gently with a soft sponge or cloth.​ 

While you can use a dishwasher, we recommend hand washing as much as possible for some items such as those made of gold and silver, which tend to peel off after a long period of use.​

Be careful with microwave ovens

Do not use products made of gold or silver in the microwave or oven. 

Sparks may fly off and cause the surface to become dirty or damaged.​
